AI Visibility Tool Comparison: Table by Job

AI visibility tool comparison by job: tracking, reporting, attribution and crawlers. Dated prices, a 20-prompt trial test and a free checker to run first.

An AI visibility tool comparison is only useful if it starts from the job you are hiring the tool to do. A tool that tells you whether ChatGPT names your brand is not automatically the one that shows which assistants send visitors or which AI crawlers read your pages. This guide splits the shortlist into four jobs, gives a trial test you can run, and lists prices as checked on 2026-11-06.

Key takeaways

  • Score tools on four separate jobs: tracking (are we named and cited), reporting (can others read it), attribution (did it send visits) and crawlers (can bots reach the pages).
  • Ask every vendor the same questions and treat an unanswered one as unverified, not as a gap. Public pages rarely list everything a product does.
  • Compare prompts and projects per plan, not the headline price. Entry plans differ in what they include.
  • Run the free Noma AI SEO Checker first: it shows whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Mode can read a page before you pay for tracking.
  • Load the same 20 unbranded buyer prompts into each trial and judge repeat-run stability, not one dashboard screenshot.

What is the best AI visibility tool?

There is no single answer, because the right tool depends on what you must prove. A team that needs a weekly mention count has different needs from one that must show AI referrals in a board report. Choose by job, then test.

Run-to-run variation is the reason a testing method matters more than a feature list. In Noma by Nurdd's own measurement, November 2026, across 2,545 answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, two in three cited URLs appeared in one run only, and 36% of cited URLs were cited again within a week. A tool that shows one run per prompt can mislead you.

Engines also disagree with each other. PPC Land, November 2026, reports that ChatGPT and Google put a different brand at the top of their AI answers in 35% of 5,810 buying topics, according to research Bluefish cited on 27 October 2026. The same report notes the announcement does not name the categories, the Google product queried or the collection dates, so treat 35% as a signal, not a benchmark. The practical point holds: you need per-engine reporting, not one blended number.

Which AEO tools should I compare before buying?

Compare them on four jobs. Each has a question you can answer during a trial.

JobQuestion to answer in the trialWhat to look for
TrackingDoes it show if we are named, how high, and which pages the answer cites?Daily runs, per-engine split, visibility, position and sentiment, cited sources, competitor share of voice
ReportingCan a non-specialist read it and can the data leave the tool?Export, API, seats, projects per plan, connection to your own AI assistant or warehouse
AttributionCan we connect AI answers to visits?Assistant referrals, landing pages, Google Search Console connection
CrawlersCan AI bots fetch our pages, and which ones do?Server-log based bot reporting, named agents, a robots.txt check

A fifth job, content fixes, matters once the first four work. Treat it as a tie-breaker. The longer buyer checklist is in how to choose AEO tools.

AI visibility tool comparison table by job

This table lists what Noma by Nurdd does, from its own pages, against the four jobs. For rivals, use the vendor-question column: it is the same question to put to each vendor in a trial. Rival cells are left for you to fill from the vendor's own page or sales answer, because a feature missing from a page is not proof it is missing from the product.

Otterly.AIFrom $29 a monthOtterly.AI's own page, checked 6 November 2026

Otterly.AI's page says it "does the same job from $29". The page does not list prompts or engines in that line, so a lower price does not tell you what you get. Divide any price by prompts, projects and engines before comparing. Every Noma plan starts with a 3-day trial including 25 tracked prompts; ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude are included on every paid plan, and other engines are add-ons.

For other vendors, Noma publishes dated head-to-head pages: Noma vs Profound vs Peec AI and Noma vs Semrush vs Ahrefs. Confirm each rival figure on the vendor's own pricing page before you buy.

Job 1: Tracking, and why repeat runs decide it

Check three things.

  1. Engines. Noma by Nurdd asks 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Ask any vendor which engines your plan includes.
  2. Metrics. A mention alone is thin. Noma reports visibility (is the brand in the answer), position (how high) and sentiment (the words that come with the name), per engine.
  3. Sources. The cited pages tell you what to fix. Noma lists the sources each answer cites and finds topics where competitors appear and your brand does not.

Use unbranded buyer questions. A branded prompt only proves the engine knows you exist. The free AI Prompt Finder drafts a list, and which prompts to track shows how to group them.

A trial test that exposes weak tracking

  1. Write 20 unbranded buyer prompts and freeze them.
  2. Load the same 20 into each tool on its trial.
  3. After three days, compare how many answers per prompt each tool ran, and whether it shows prompts whose result changed between runs.
  4. Check ten answers by hand in the engine itself. If a mention in the tool does not match the live answer, note it.

The maths behind share of voice is in how to measure AI share of voice across engines.

Job 2: Reporting your team and clients can read

Reporting fails when the data lives in one login. Check seats, projects, exports and how data leaves the tool. Noma offers an MCP server on every paid plan and an API on higher plans. Agencies should read how to choose AI visibility tools for agencies, because project limits drive cost: Noma's Agency plan is $1,199 a month for 25 projects as of 6 November 2026.

Job 3: Attribution, the row most buyers forget

Attribution answers the question finance will ask: did any of this send visitors? No engine publishes prompt volume, so any volume figure is an estimate (see AI prompt volume). Referrals and landing pages are what you can measure.

Noma reports which assistants send visitors back and connects to Google Search Console. Gemini has reportedly dropped UTM tags, so GA4 referrer rules matter, as covered in Gemini UTM parameters. Search Console's AI report may never show clicks, per this analysis.

Ask each vendor three questions: which assistants appear as referral sources, can I see the landing page per referral, and can I export it?

Job 4: Crawler visibility, the cheapest check to run first

If AI bots cannot fetch a page, no tracker will fix that. Two free checks come before any purchase.

  • Robots and firewall. The free AI crawler checker shows whether GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot can crawl your site and generates a fixed robots.txt.
  • Page readability. The free Noma AI SEO Checker runs 30+ checks on a page, including whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Mode can read it, and returns the top fixes.

For ongoing evidence, server-log reporting beats a one-off check. Details in what is agent analytics.

Where Noma fits

Noma by Nurdd is an AEO and AI visibility platform. For this comparison it measures, per engine across 13 AI engines, whether your brand is named, how high and with what sentiment. It lists cited sources, shows share of voice against competitors, reports which assistants send visitors back, and shows which AI crawlers fetch each page from your server logs.

Why Noma fits a shortlist

  • Engine coverage. 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, tracked daily.
  • Integrations on every paid plan. The MCP server connects Claude, Claude Code and Cursor to your data.
  • Low-risk test. The 3-day trial includes 25 tracked prompts, enough to run the trial test above on a frozen set.
  • Published plans. Prices, prompts and projects are listed on the pricing page, so you can divide cost by prompts before you book anything.

Common mistakes when comparing AI visibility tools

  • Buying on the headline price without dividing by prompts and projects.
  • Tracking only branded prompts, which flatters every tool.
  • Reading one run per prompt as a result.
  • Skipping the crawler check, then blaming content.
  • Choosing a tool before deciding who will act on the findings. The baseline chapter of the AEO guide shows how to hand each finding to its owner.

How we researched this

I reviewed Noma's own pricing and product pages, Otterly.AI's own pricing comparison page, a trade report on Bluefish research, and Noma's published measurement of citation stability. Facts and prices were checked on 2026-11-06. Rival vendor pages beyond Otterly.AI could not be loaded in this review, so rival prices and features are not listed here and the table asks you to confirm them. This article reflects no hands-on testing of rival tools. Prices change, so confirm on each vendor page.

Questions people ask

What is the best AI visibility tool?

It depends on the job. Score tools separately on tracking, reporting, attribution and crawler visibility, then test two or three on the same 20 frozen prompts. Noma by Nurdd tracks 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, from $79 a month.

Which AEO tools should I compare before buying?

Compare engines tracked, prompts and projects per plan, per-engine metrics, cited sources, referral reporting and crawler visibility. Load the same 20 unbranded buyer prompts into each trial and check ten answers by hand in the live engine.

How much does an AI visibility tool cost?

On pages checked on 6 November 2026, Noma by Nurdd starts at $79 a month for 50 tracked prompts and Otterly.AI's own page says from $29. Prompts, projects and engines differ, so compare what each price includes.

Can I check my AI visibility for free first?

Yes. The free Noma AI SEO Checker shows whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Mode can read a page, and the free AI Visibility Checker shows whether engines name your brand. Both run before you pay for tracking.

Does Noma have a free trial?

Yes, a 3-day free trial that includes 25 tracked prompts. A card is taken at signup so billing can start on day 3. Cancel before then and nothing is charged.

Why do AI visibility results change between runs?

AI answers vary from run to run. In Noma's measurement of 2,545 answers, two in three cited URLs appeared in one run only. Use repeat runs and a fixed prompt set so a change reflects the world, not noise.
