What this AI SEO checker looks at
It runs more than 30 checks on one page and the site around it, in two groups. The SEO checks are the classic audit: status code, indexing rules, canonical, HTTPS, robots.txt, sitemap, title, meta description, headings, image alt text, internal links, language, mobile viewport and, when Google PageSpeed Insights answers in time, mobile speed and Core Web Vitals.
The AI readiness checks ask whether an AI engine can fetch, read and quote the page: whether robots.txt lets AI search crawlers in, whether your firewall treats them differently from a browser, whether the content is in the HTML, whether structured data names your business and says what the page is, and whether the text opens with a clear summary, uses question headings, lists and an FAQ, and shows when it was updated.
Why AI readiness is different from SEO
Search engines and AI engines overlap, but a few things matter more for AI. Many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so a page that renders on the client can look empty to them. AI companies run two kinds of bots: search and user bots that fetch pages to answer questions, and training bots that collect pages for future models. Blocking a training bot does not remove you from AI answers; blocking a search bot does. Structured data helps machines tie your pages to one business, and an answer-first opening gives them a clean sentence to quote.
How to read your scores
Each score runs from 0 to 100: under 50 needs work, 50 to 79 is fair, 80 and above is good. Every check is weighted by how much it matters, and a warning counts for half. Some problems cap a score however good the rest is: a page that fails to load caps both at 20, noindex caps SEO at 30, blocking AI search bots caps AI at 40, and content that needs JavaScript caps AI at 45. A check marked not scored did not apply to this page or could not be measured this time, and it is left out of the score rather than counted against you.
What we cannot see
We read the HTML your server sends and do not run JavaScript, so we see your page the way most AI crawlers do, not the way a browser does. We cannot see pages behind a login. Our bot test sends requests that claim to be AI bots, and some firewalls verify real bots by IP address, so a block we report may not affect the real bot; we only ever say a bot may be blocked. Above all, a ready site is not the same as a recommended one. Common questions
- Is this AI SEO checker really free?
- Yes. You get both scores, every check and the five most important fixes without signing up. Leaving your email unlocks the fix for every remaining issue, written so you can forward it to your developer.
- What is the difference between an SEO score and an AI readiness score?
- The SEO score covers the classic basics: whether the page loads, can be indexed, has a good title and description, is fast on mobile and links to the rest of your site. The AI readiness score covers whether AI crawlers are allowed in, whether your content is in the HTML rather than loaded by JavaScript, whether structured data identifies your business, and whether the content is easy to quote.
- Does blocking GPTBot remove my site from ChatGPT answers?
- No. GPTBot collects pages for training OpenAI's models. ChatGPT's search answers rely on OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User, which OpenAI documents as separate bots. You can block GPTBot and still be cited, as long as the search and user bots are allowed. The checker lists training crawlers for information only and never scores them.
- Do I need an llms.txt file?
- It is optional. llms.txt is a proposed convention for giving AI tools a short map of your site, and no major AI engine has said it uses it for ranking or citations. It is cheap to add, so we count it as a small warning when it is missing, never a failure.
- Why does my JavaScript site score low for AI readiness?
- Many AI crawlers read the raw HTML and do not run JavaScript. If your text only appears after scripts run, those crawlers see an almost empty page. Server-side rendering or static generation puts the content in the HTML, and the score caps at 45 until it is there.
- How often should I check my site?
- After any redesign, migration, CDN or firewall change, and after edits to robots.txt. Those are the changes that quietly lock crawlers out. Results are cached for a day, so checking the same page twice in a day shows the earlier result.
- Does a good AI readiness score mean ChatGPT will recommend my brand?
- No. A good score means AI engines can reach, read and understand your site. Whether they recommend you depends on what they find about you across the web, which this checker cannot see. The AI Visibility check answers that question by asking the engines directly.
