The best Profound alternatives depend on what you want to change: the price, the number of AI engines tracked, or how much work the tool leaves to your team. **Noma by Nurdd** monitors 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, from $79 a month, with a 3-day free trial. Profound's October 2025 announcement says its pricing starts at $99 a month.

## Key takeaways

- Decide first which gap you are closing: cost per tracked prompt, engine coverage, or time to a first baseline. Each points to a different alternative.
- Profound's announcement of 21 October 2025 puts its entry price at $99 a month and describes the Starter plan around ChatGPT. Noma's entry plan is $79 a month and covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude.
- Compare tools on the same fixed prompt set, not on feature lists. A one-week side-by-side test is cheaper than a year on the wrong plan.
- Noma by Nurdd monitors 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. The [pricing page](https://nomahq.app/pricing) shows what each plan includes.
- Check any trial for its length, prompt limit and billing terms before you load your prompts. Noma's is 3 days, 25 tracked prompts, with a card taken so billing can start on day 3.

## Why do teams look for Profound alternatives?

Three reasons come up when a team compares AI visibility tools: price at the entry level, which engines a plan actually covers, and whether the tool only reports or also tells the team what to change. None of these says Profound is a poor product. They say the right fit depends on your size and your questions.

Profound announced new Starter and Growth plans on 21 October 2025 and said they replace its earlier Lite plan. The announcement says the pricing starts at **$99/month**, with Enterprise offerings alongside, per [Profound, October 2025](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/making-answer-engine-optimization-accessible-to-every-business). That is a year-old announcement, not a current price list, so read Profound's pricing page before you decide.

The reason to track at all is straightforward. Pew Research Center found Google users clicked a traditional result in 8% of visits when an AI summary appeared, against 15% without one, as reported by [Pew Research Center, as reported by PPC Land, July 2025](https://ppc.land/ai-search-summaries-reduce-link-clicks-for-google-users/). If answers replace clicks, being named inside the answer is the thing to measure.

> "Answer Engines are becoming the new interface for search, research, and recommendation." ([Profound, October 2025](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/making-answer-engine-optimization-accessible-to-every-business))

That premise is shared by every tool on this page. The difference is in what each one measures, how often, and at what cost.

## How do Profound and Noma compare on price?

Noma's prices come from its [pricing page](https://nomahq.app/pricing), in USD, as checked on 2 November 2026. The Profound column below uses only its announcement of 21 October 2025. Profound's pricing page was not read for this research, so treat its figures as dated, not current, and rows marked as not confirmed are left for you to check.

| Item | Profound (announcement dated 21 October 2025) | Noma by Nurdd (pricing page, as checked 2 November 2026) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Entry price | Pricing starts at $99 a month (as announced, not confirmed as current) | Starter, $79 a month |
| Entry plan scope | Starter tracks visibility and what ChatGPT says about your brand, sentiment and cited pages | 50 tracked prompts, 1 project, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude |
| Higher self-serve plan | Growth, with expanded model coverage (price not confirmed) | Growth $299 (60 prompts, 3 projects); Scale $799 (100 prompts, 10 projects) |
| Agency plans | Enterprise offerings alongside Starter and Growth (announcement) | Studio $499 (50 prompts, 10 projects); Agency $1,199 (50 prompts, 25 projects) |
| Full-service option | Not confirmed | Managed, $999 a month |
| Free trial | Not confirmed | 3 days, 25 tracked prompts, card taken so billing can start on day 3 |

### What does a tracked prompt cost on each Noma plan?

A headline price hides how much you get. Dividing each Noma plan by its tracked prompts gives a cost per prompt a team can compare with any other tool's published limits. The figures below are simple division of the prices and limits on Noma's pricing page.

| Noma plan | Monthly price | Tracked prompts | Price per prompt per month |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Starter | $79 | 50 | $1.58 |
| Growth | $299 | 60 | $4.98 |
| Scale | $799 | 100 | $7.99 |
| Studio | $499 | 50 | $9.98 |
| Agency | $1,199 | 50 | $23.98 |

Two points follow. The per-prompt price rises with plan size because higher plans add projects, so the number only compares like with like: one brand, one project. And a prompt is asked on every engine, so a plan that covers more engines gives more answers per prompt. Run the same division on any competitor's page: price, divided by prompts, then note how many engines each prompt is asked on.

On Noma's plans, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude are included on every paid plan. Grok, GPT-5, Claude Sonnet, DeepSeek, Qwen, Mistral Small, Mistral Medium, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews are add-ons, and Grok is included in the trial and on Enterprise. Price the add-ons you need before you compare.

## Which AI engines does each tool cover?

Engine coverage decides whether the tool can see where your buyers look. Profound's announcement names ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews as examples of the answer engines it addresses, and says the Growth plan has expanded model coverage. It does not list a count on that page.

Noma by Nurdd monitors 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. The [pricing page](https://nomahq.app/pricing) shows how they are packaged. Microsoft Copilot and Meta AI are not tracked.

| Question to ask | Profound (announcement, 21 October 2025) | Noma by Nurdd |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Which engines on the entry plan? | Described around ChatGPT | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude |
| Google AI Overviews and AI Mode | Google AI Overviews named; plan placement not confirmed | Available, priced on the pricing page |
| Total engines monitored | Count not stated on the page checked | 13 |
| Microsoft Copilot and Meta AI | Not confirmed | Not tracked |
| Metrics per engine | Visibility, sentiment and cited pages named | Visibility, position and sentiment, plus sources cited |

Engines disagree about the same brand, which is why per-engine reporting matters. Noma's note on [why ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity disagree](https://nomahq.app/blog/why-engines-disagree) explains it, and the [help article on tracked models](https://nomahq.app/help/article/which-models-does-noma-track) lists each engine.

Answers also move from day to day. Ahrefs tracked about 37,500 citations across five AI tools every day for 20 days and reported that half of AI citations disappear the next day, and most come back, per [Ahrefs, 2026](https://ahrefs.com/blog/how-stable-are-ai-citations/). A tool that samples once a week will read that noise as a trend. Daily runs, which Noma performs, give you the repeat samples to tell the difference. See [AI citation stability](https://nomahq.app/blog/ai-citation-stability) for how many runs to sample.

## Which Profound alternative fits which team?

Alternatives fall into a few types. Use this table to pick the type before you compare vendors, then compare two or three tools of that type.

| If your main need is | Look for | What to verify on the vendor's page |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A lower entry price for one brand | A self-serve plan with published prompts and engines | Prompts, engines and billing term (monthly or annual) |
| Coverage beyond ChatGPT | Several engines on the entry plan | Which engines are included and which cost extra |
| Many client brands | Project limits, white-label reports | Price per project; see [Noma for agencies](https://nomahq.app/features/for-agencies) |
| Hands-off delivery | A managed service | What is delivered monthly, and who writes the content |
| Enterprise controls | SSO, security reviews, API | Plan that includes them; see [Noma Enterprise](https://nomahq.app/enterprise) |

For wider vendor lists, Noma's own pages cover the field with prices read from each vendor's site: [Profound alternatives: nine options compared](https://nomahq.app/compare/profound-alternatives), [Peec AI vs Profound](https://nomahq.app/compare/peec-ai-vs-profound) and [best AI visibility and AEO tools](https://nomahq.app/blog/best-ai-visibility-aeo-tools-2026).

## Why would a team pick Noma by Nurdd over Profound?

Three rows in the tables above are where Noma makes its case. It rests only on the published facts.

- **Entry price and engines.** Noma Starter is $79 a month and covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Profound's announcement puts its entry price at $99 a month and describes Starter around ChatGPT.
- **Room to grow.** Noma monitors 13 AI engines, so coverage grows without changing tool.
- **A short, clear trial.** Noma's trial is 3 days with 25 tracked prompts. A card is taken so billing can begin on day 3, and cancelling before then costs nothing. That is long enough to run a baseline and short enough to leave no ambiguity about terms.
- **Gaps and sources in one place.** Noma lists the sources each answer cites, finds topics where competitors are named and you are not, and drafts content briefs for those gaps. It also connects to Google Search Console. See [prompt tracking](https://nomahq.app/capabilities/prompt-tracking) for how the fixed prompt set works.

**Where Noma fits.** Noma by Nurdd is an AEO (answer engine optimisation) and AI visibility platform. It asks 13 AI engines, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, the questions your buyers ask, every day, and reports visibility, position and sentiment per engine, which competitors are named instead, and which pages the answers draw on. See it on your own brand: [book a demo](https://nomahq.app/demo) or [start the 3-day free trial](https://platform.nomahq.app/signup).

## How do you test an alternative against Profound in one week?

Feature lists do not settle this. A fixed test does. Run these steps with the same inputs in every tool you compare.

1. **Write 20 buyer prompts.** Use unbranded questions such as "best tool for X for a team of Y". Noma's guide on [which prompts to track](https://nomahq.app/blog/which-prompts-to-track) and the [free AI Prompt Finder](https://nomahq.app/tools/ai-prompt-finder) help you find them.
2. **Name the engines you need.** List the engines your buyers use and mark which each plan includes. Price the add-ons now, not after the trial.
3. **Run a free baseline first.** The [free brand audit](https://nomahq.app/brand-audit) shows how AI engines describe your brand today, so you have a reference answer before any paid tool runs.
4. **Load the same prompts in each tool.** Record your mention rate: prompts where you are named, divided by prompts run, per engine.
5. **Check the sources.** For five prompts, open the cited pages. Does the tool show which URLs the answer drew on, and do they match what you see by hand?
6. **Check the terms.** Note trial length, prompt cap, billing period and cancellation rules in writing.
7. **Decide on cost per useful answer.** Divide the monthly price by prompts, then ask whether the report told you what to change.

### Mistakes that skew the test

- Comparing a one-engine plan with a multi-engine plan and calling it a price difference.
- Using branded prompts, which flatter every tool because the brand is in the question.
- Reading one day's answers as a trend. Sample repeatedly, as the Ahrefs citation data above shows.
- Ignoring the billing term. An annual-only plan and a monthly plan are different commitments at the same headline price.

## What does the research on AI answers mean for tool choice?

Profound reported that personal context changes which products AI recommends. In research published on 29 October 2026, across 2,240 shopping answers from ChatGPT and Muse Spark, personal context changed the products recommended, per [Profound, October 2026](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/how-does-personal-context-change-llm-responses).

Noma's own view is that one answer per prompt is a thin sample. Choose a tool that repeats runs and keeps each answer, so you can read the wording and the sources, not only a score.

Noma's analysis of its own brand points the same way. See [what 2,545 AI answers about our own brand show](https://nomahq.app/blog/what-2545-ai-answers-about-our-brand-show) for how a full count looks when a brand is rarely named.

## How we researched this

We reviewed Profound's own announcement and research posts, Noma's pricing page and brand facts, a Pew Research Center finding as reported by an industry publication, and Ahrefs' published citation study. Profound's pricing page could not be read in our tool, so Profound figures come from its announcement of 21 October 2025 and are marked as dated or not confirmed. Facts and Noma prices were checked on 2 November 2026. Check each vendor's page before you buy.
